23 hours ago, authorities in Massachusetts shared a post on Facebook asking the public for help in locating a missing preschooler.

The Sutton Police Department shared a photo of the little brown eyed and brown haired girl, wearing a white dress and matching bow, along with the following caption:

“We are currently searching for this 4 yr old autistic girl named Eva in the Peachtree Drive area. There’s a heavy police and fire presence as we search for this young girl. If you see her, please call 9-1-1 to alert us.”

A bit over two hours after that initial post was shared, an update was provided that help was no longer needed in looking for Eva.

No further details were given at the time, and authorities simply thanked everyone who jumped in to assist in the search for the missing girl. K9 patrols and troopers were brought in as additional aid.

Earlier this morning, the Sutton Police sadly confirmed that Eva had passed away.  “The past 12 hours have been incredibly difficult for one of our families in town and our team of first responders,” they wrote in their most recent Facebook post shared five hours ago.

“There are no words that we can offer to help ease the heartache our residents are feelings now. We are so incredibly sorry. We will not be speaking to the press, nor doing any on camera interviews out of respect for our family in town.”

A statement from the Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. was additionally given, which stated a 911 call came in at 3:50 in the afternoon on Thursday. The 911 caller reported that Eva went missing from her house.

“A short time later, the girl was found in a neighbor’s pool, unresponsive,” the statement added. “Emergency personnel transported her to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where she was pronounced deceased.”
