Police have so far discovered a bucket and mop at Patrick’s home that tested positive for having had blood on them. Patrick has been arrested and charged with Kelsey’s murder.

Michelle Stein, one of Krystal’s best friends, spoke to CBS about her decision to help Patrick.

“I will just tell you Krystal was very, very scared,” Michelle said. “Krystal’s a very level-headed, kind, fun-loving, happy-go-lucky person. She’s a tough cowgirl. But she was absolutely scared and extremely upset.”
That’s hardly an acceptable excuse for helping Patrick. It’s not like he held her at gunpoint for her participation. Krystal should have gone to the police. We’re pretty sure if she had done the right thing Kelsey would still be here. Instead, she chose to go along with Patrick and participate in covering up Kelsey’s murder, and now she’s going to do up to 3 years in jail for her choice.
Although police have yet to comment on why Patrick even did what he did, Kelsey’s family has an idea of his motive. Kelsey’s family filed a wrongful death suit against Patrick, saying that he killed her in order to get full custody of their daughter. For now, Kaylee’s maternal grandparents, Kelsey’s parents, have full custody of her.

As for Kelsey’s remains, police are currently searching through local landfills hoping to find her. We hope that she can be located to bring some peace and closure to her family.
