She Didn’t Invite Her Brother To Her Birthday Party This Year Because He Got Wasted And Ruined Her Last Celebration, But Now He Feels Like An Outcast

When this woman threw her last birthday party a few years ago, her 28-year-old brother completely ruined it.

She’d tried to host a dinner for her close friends and family, but he got super drunk and caused a big scene.

“At one point, my brother started yelling at other guests, saying things that were completely unrelated to the conversation. Eventually, we had to take him home because he was too intoxicated to walk on his own,” she recalled.

This made her birthday a complete “disaster,” but she tried to move on and forgive him – mainly because he’s her brother, after all.

Even so, she admitted that it wasn’t the first time he’d ruined an event. In fact, her brother has a history of getting belligerent whenever he drinks – which normally causes either a fight or some sort of embarrassment.

“Our family tends to brush it off, saying it’s ‘just how he is,’ but honestly, I’m tired of it,” she said.

So, now that her thirtieth birthday is quickly approaching, she decided not to invite her brother to the celebration.

She wants to have a special evening and is planning a small party. Without her brother there, she thinks the night will go much smoother, too, without any dramatic or uncomfortable incidents.

“I can’t take the risk of him ruining it again, especially on such an important day for me,” she reasoned.

Once her brother recently heard he wasn’t invited, though, he was livid at her. He actually accused her of being cruel and believed he was getting treated like an outcast.

Her mom took his side as well – thinking it was “unfair” of her to exclude her brother from a family event. Plus, her mom insisted that family members forgive each other, no matter what’s happened in the past.

She never intended to spark any tension in her family, and it’s making her feel horrible.

“I didn’t want to start a fight, but I also don’t want to relive the chaos from previous years,” she vented.

Still, with some people urging her to give her brother a second chance, she doesn’t know whether not inviting him to her birthday this year was really an overreaction.

Does she deserve a drama-free celebration on her birthday? Should she have to worry about her brother getting too drunk and causing problems?
