I’m sure you have heard about the case of Maleah Davis by now, as it has garnered international attention and her photos have appeared all over the news. Maleah Davis was a 4-year-old little girl from Texas who was reported as missing not that long ago.
Brittany Bowens, Maleah’s mom, had to leave Texas on Tuesday, April 30th to attend her dad’s funeral back in Massachusetts. So, she decided to leave Maleah and her brother with her fiance Derion Vence. This makes complete sense because no mom wants to subject their young children to a funeral.
Derion and Brittany had their son together, 1-year-old Kourtland, and Maleah was Brittany’s daughter from another relationship. Brittany didn’t know it at the time, but that day in April was the last day she would see her precious little girl alive.

Here is everything you need to know about Maleah Davis, the little girl who went missing but sadly turned up dead just a month later. Now, her step-dad Derion is being charged.
Just four days after Brittany left her children in Derion’s care, something strange happened.

On May 4th, around 10 in the morning, Derion showed up to Houston Methodist Hospital with his son Kourtland in tow. Maleah, however, was not with him.
Derion told the authorities that he was attacked that morning on his way to get Brittany from the airport with the children in the backseat.
He said that his car made a weird sound, so he pulled over on the side of the road and got out to investigate the problem. He blew a tire out. All of a sudden, a blue Chevy pulled up behind his parked car, and three Hispanic men jumped out. He went on to say:
“One of them makes a comment saying, ‘Maleah looks very nice, looks very sweet. The other male hits Derion in the head.”
Derion says the men knocked him out, and he briefly remembers waking up in the back of their trunk, along with his son and Maleah. He then passed back out again.

Derion then says he woke up and the three men left him and Kourtland in Sugar Land on Highway 6. They kept Maleah and drove off, kidnapping her. He claims his car was stolen and he walked and walked, but couldn’t find any help, so he walked all the way to the hospital while carrying his son with him.
At this time, Brittany arrives at the airport, and Derion is nowhere to be seen. He was supposed to pick her up, and she can’t get a hold of him.
So, she calls her mom to come to get her and give her a ride back home.
Derion never came to pick Brittany up at the airport like he said he would, so she had to call her mom to come to get her that day
On May 5th, the following day, police issued an official Amber Alert for Maleah. They said that Maleah had undergone several different brain surgeries, the latest one having been done in March.
Maleah was in need of specialized medical care, so it was imperative the public help track her down so they could find her ASAP. Maleah’s family handed out flyers to people in hopes of raising awareness about her disappearance.
