As they completed their search on Patrick’s property, a generous anonymous donor stepped up to offer a $25,000 reward into any information leading to Kelsey’s whereabouts. Police proceeded to pursue several leads the public stepped up with on the missing mom.

On December 21st, authorities arrested Patrick. It was 7 in the morning when they put the handcuffs on. Miles De Young, the Woodland Park Police Chief, then decided to hold a press conference.

“Sadly, we do not believe Kelsey is still alive,” he said to the reporters gathered around. He also revealed to reporters that authorities had every reason to believe that Kelsey had been murdered in her home in Woodland Park.
Although they had not yet found her body, they had found someone that knew what happened to her, and this person confirmed she was sadly no longer living.
Police believed that on three separate occasions, Patrick asked someone to kill Kelsey for him. Authorities did not believe that Patrick worked alone when it comes to what happened to Kelsey.

Kelsey’s daughter Kaylee had been staying with Patrick all throughout Kelsey’s disappearance. Once authorities brought Patrick into custody, Kaylee went to live with her maternal grandparents.
