His Parents Didn’t Let Him Have All The Money His Grandparents Left For Him, So He’s Refused To Speak To Them Ever Since

Inheritance is one of those things that can cause a lot of drama if not handled professionally and carefully.

A man has refused to speak to his parents and won’t let them see their grandchildren after they didn’t give him the full amount of money his late grandparents left for him.

When he was very young, his wealthy grandparents passed away and left him, his sibling, and his cousins with large sums. When he was a kid, his parents were responsible for saving the money until he could access it, and his grandparents trusted them to take care of it.

Unfortunately, they failed to do so, and his dad recklessly decided to invest most of his inheritance to try to turn a profit. Much to his dismay, his dad was unsuccessful.

“I got $27,000 when I was old enough to get my money, and that was about 10% of what everyone else got,” he explained.

“My parents also lost a bunch of money that had been left to my mom. If my parents had left it alone, I would be in a good place.”

His older sister and their cousins could get their inherited money in full, which equaled around $300,000 per person, but by the time he was eligible to have his share, he hardly received anything compared to them, and it was because his parents were careless.

Believing his parents had stolen from him, he decided to cut them off, and it’s been years since he’s seen them.

“They were not invited to my wedding, and they have not met my kids,” he revealed.

“My sister is child-free, so I have their only grandchildren. My parents want to be a part of their lives. I said that if they replaced my money with interest, I would forgive them.”

Once he told his parents they would only be able to get to know their grandchildren if they paid him back, they became very defensive, telling him that he was expecting an absurd amount of money and that trying to transfer that much would put a significant dent in their retirement fund.

However, he feels that isn’t his problem, and his parents wouldn’t be in this situation if they simply followed his grandparents’ plan.

“My sister thinks I’m being mean, so I told her that she was welcome to give me her money if she didn’t think it was a factor,” he added.

“She said she wasn’t going to do that.”

As angry as he is, he’s beginning to wonder if he’s been too harsh with his parents, even though their actions made a huge impact on his finances.

Should he consider reconnecting with his parents even if they can’t repay him?
