The American justice system is far from perfect. For instance, hundreds of cases of false arrests and wrongful convictions occur every year.
TikToker Yohan (@imcominginhot) is telling a crazy story about the time he went over to a friend’s house to write a song, only to be ambushed and arrested by police for the possession of illegal substances even though he was innocent.
Ten years ago, he had just started college, and his friend had passed away in a tragic car accident. One of their mutual friends called Yohan and asked him if they could work on a song together to perform at the funeral since Yohan was a good musician.
So, Yohan went over to his friend’s house and headed upstairs to his bedroom. They got to work, and the song was coming along nicely. At one point, his friend’s cousin stopped in to drop off a backpack.
As they neared the end of the song, they heard some noise downstairs. Other people lived in the house, so they didn’t really pay much attention to the noise.
But a few moments later, they heard an even louder noise. Yohan decided to check out what was going on. He opened the bedroom door, peered downstairs, and saw seven police officers pointing their guns at his body.
They started yelling at him to put his hands in the air and walk down the stairs backward. Yohan and his friend were both handcuffed. Yohan had no clue what was happening, so he looked over to his friend for answers. However, his friend was bawling his eyes out.
So, Yohan tried to ask a police officer about the situation. The officer yelled at him to stay quiet. Other officers went upstairs, returned with two backpacks, and started rummaging through them. One of the backpacks was Yohan’s, and the second was his friend’s cousin’s.
The officers found some water and textbooks in Yohan’s bag. In the other backpack, they found a bunch of substances. Yohan and his friend were driven down to the police station, where they were questioned for a couple of hours. Of course, Yohan kept trying to tell them he didn’t know anything.
Eventually, they were released from the station, and the police later arrested the kid who dropped off the substances. In an attempt to catch him in the act, the police tried texting Yohan from the kid’s phone. Yohan immediately blocked his phone number.
A week went by without incident, then one day, his father asked him if he had gotten arrested. It turned out that his father had known about it the very same day it happened. He advised Yohan to choose his friends wisely. Obviously, Yohan never went back to that friend’s house again.
