When you were younger, you probably saw the world in black and white. However, life is actually so much more complex than you anticipated. And now, perhaps you’re discovering that there are a lot more gray areas to life than you previously thought.
This realization can be difficult to accept. So, sometimes, you might find yourself trying to avoid life’s harsh realities. But denying uncomfortable truths will make it harder for you to live an authentic, fulfilling life. The sooner you embrace them, the happier you’ll be in the long run.
TikToker Chris Choi (@chriskjchoi) is sharing seven uncomfortable truths about life that everyone must face. It took many years for him to understand these concepts, and he’s hoping to give his viewers a head start.
Number one: not everyone will appreciate you for who you are. Trying to please everyone is a recipe for unhappiness. Instead, focus on your own needs and surround yourself with people who do appreciate and support you.
Chris says that, in all honesty, most people will not take the time to recognize your worth because they are too busy wrestling with their own insecurities to notice.
Number two: sincere kisses happen more frequently in airports than in wedding halls. Chris claims this is because love is felt the most when it’s leaving. His advice is to spend time with your loved ones while you still can and don’t take them for granted.
Number three: the biggest reason why people cannot become who they want to be is that they’re too attached to their past selves. He points out that if the past version of yourself wasn’t who you wanted to be, then you shouldn’t keep yourself stuck in the past.
Number four: you should be thankful for all the difficult people in your life. They have served as challenges for you to overcome, allowing you to grow and develop as a person. They are also prime examples of you who you never want to become.
Number five: your comfort zone will drag you down and kill your dreams. Chris mentions that those already living their dream lives aren’t necessarily more talented or intelligent. They’re simply more courageous when it comes to chasing their ambitions.
It’s natural to want to resist any change and the challenges that accompany it, but if you embrace discomfort and remember that it’s only temporary, you will be closer to achieving your dreams.
Number six: life’s biggest paradox is that vulnerability shows strength. Being brave enough to open up about your flaws and imperfections can actually lead to more meaningful relationships.
Number seven: you will definitely experience negativity from haters throughout your life, but try not to take it personally. Often, your biggest haters struggle to root for themselves; therefore, they take out their frustrations on you.
