Caitlyn Ashley Nicole, who goes by @caitlynashleynicole on TikTok, has an 8-year-old Aussie named Remy. On September 7th, Caitlyn’s ex-husband went behind her back and surrendered her dog to a rescue without her consent or knowledge.
Caitlyn spent weeks trying to find out what rescue her ex gave Remy to, since her ex wouldn’t give her any information, and she thankfully figured it out on September 28th.
She reached out to the rescue, said she could prove she’s Remy’s rightful owner, and even filled out an adoption application for Remy, but the rescue blocked her and failed to return Remy!
“After weeks of contacting the rescue, offering to pay and be vetted, supply paperwork, anything, they have done nothing but block me and deny my application on false allegations,” Caitlyn wrote on a GoFundMe page.
“I have consulted with animal rights attorneys here in FL, and the only option I have is to start a fund and retain an attorney to file a motion to stop my baby from being adopted out.”
“As of 11/4, he was posted as still being in foster care, which means legally, I have very little time but still a chance to intercept and get him back.”
Caitlyn added that it’s going to cost her over $4,000 to fight to get Remy back, which she doesn’t have.
Caitlyn has shared Remy’s heartbreaking story across social media, hoping to raise awareness and, at the very least, put pressure on the rescue to do the right thing and return her dog.
In a TikTok video she shared a day ago, Caitlyn alleged that volunteers with the rescue even threatened to sue her or told her she should take medication after she reached out requesting Remy be given back to her.
How crazy is that? Caitlyn provided screenshots of the emails and social media messages she sent to the rescue, which are nothing but polite and to the point. She also shared screenshots of a nasty response she got from the rescue refusing to let her essentially adopt her own dog.
They denied her application after she sent them multiple messages and even posted on Facebook, not knowing how to go about getting her dog back since they were ignoring her.
Caitlyn maintains she never said a negative thing about the rescue and that she has more updated vet records for Remy (the rescue argued that she provided them with records that weren’t up-to-date enough for their liking, but Caitlyn has recent ones from this year).
“I never said anything bad about this rescue at all; I’m just confused why y’all blocked me and why you guys aren’t vetting me or giving me an opportunity,” Caitlyn said in her video.
