A rep from Spotify spoke to The Blast and said that after the premiere of the Lifetime series Surviving R. Kelly, his song “I Believe I Can Fly” has increased in streaming on their platform.
The rep went on to say his, “streams have increased 16%.”
Jada Pinkett Smith chose to comment on this in sharing her feelings about R. Kelly on Instagram:
“How is it that R Kelly’s music sales have spiked (substantially) since the release of the docuseries Surviving R Kelly?
I need some help in understanding. What am I missing???”

Jada went on to say in her video that she is, “having a really difficult time understanding why.”
Jada continued with she didn’t want the reason to be “because black girls don’t matter enough.”

The singer Jojo tweeted some of her feelings on R. Kelly.
“Many of these stories I was hearing when I, myself, was wayyyy underage”, she said on Twitter.
“Making my first couple albums at 12 and then 14/15. I was a HUGEEEEE R Kelly fan, came from a broken home, had daddy issues, and wondered… how did these girls get chosen? I wondered if I could/would be.”
She goes on to thank her mom for not letting her ever get “get too close to other predatory men.” JoJo finished by saying without her mom, she “could have easily fallen victim to someone like R Kelly. Period.”
