For nearly eight years, this woman has been with her boyfriend. He’s depressed, and their personal life is lacking, so she cheats on him occasionally. She promises it’s never anything more serious than a one-night stand, though.
Last year, she and her boyfriend moved into a new home, and they became friendly with their neighbors. One 50-year-old man who lives near them she really forged a connection with.
“He’s exactly my type physically. Extremely handsome, tall, full head of thick greying hair, greying beard, beautiful blue eyes and a genuine, kind smile,” she explained.
“He has a personality to match, and we soon realized we had a lot in common. We decided to go out since we both like techno. Our respective partners don’t enjoy the nightlife, so we had their blessing to go with a couple of his friends.”
She had the time of her life that night. Nothing happened between them, but they kept on hanging out. He made her feel “alive” and like she could learn more about herself. He was the incredible partner she didn’t have.
Then, one evening, they slept together, and they routinely started sneaking off to hook up. She quickly fell head over heels in love with him, and she’s never felt like this before in her life about a guy.
He’s actually fallen for her, too, and they had a conversation about their feelings. They came to the conclusion that they cannot exactly be together since he’s married. He’s spent two decades with his wife, who does not work, so he apparently feels too badly about leaving her.
“I definitely respect that decision and think it’s very honorable of him to show that loyalty. I also have no intentions of disturbing their marriage and causing drama,” she said.
She says she really loves her boyfriend and doesn’t want to leave him, but she keeps comparing him to her neighbor. She does feel guilty about this, and she knows it would ruin her boyfriend if he found out about her escapades with the neighbor.
Lately, her boyfriend has brought up buying a house in another neighborhood, but she doesn’t want to leave because she wants to stay close to her neighbor.
“I guess I’m just sad that I can’t have my neighbor…I truly feel like he’s the one, and I’m always eager to see him, to look him in the eyes and be greeted by that beautiful smile when he opens the door, to hear his voice whispering to me when we make love, to feel his warm embrace when I need to cry, to rub my face on his, fall asleep next to him,” she continued.
What advice do you have for her?
