This man and his girlfriend have been dating for nearly four years now, and back when they were in the early stages of their relationship, they talked about their plans for the future – including marriage and children.
At the time, he made his views very clear. More specifically, he told his girlfriend that he did not want any children.
“And she agreed and said neither did she,” he recalled, “And I said the same about marriage, and she also agreed.”
Yet, more recently, his girlfriend has begun bringing up the idea of having children again. So, he finally asked why she kept talking about that, and she admitted to thinking that they should start trying to have a baby.
This caught him off guard, and he pointed out how, years ago, they both agreed not to have any kids.
“And we had said that neither of us wanted them,” he added.
Well, his girlfriend claimed they had that conversation “ages ago,” so she’s since changed her mind and now wants to have kids.
He, on the other hand, hasn’t had the same change of heart. So, he was forced to tell his girlfriend that nothing had changed for him, and he still didn’t want children.
This pushed his girlfriend to ask if he would even consider the idea. But he held his ground and told her no, and now, she’s been upset ever since.
Apparently, his girlfriend accused him of not loving her if he didn’t want to start a family with her.
“But I just reminded her that she’s known from the start that I didn’t want kids, so she can’t act shocked now that I actually meant what I said,” he vented.
Regardless, she doesn’t understand that and genuinely believes that he “clearly” doesn’t love her if he can’t at least consider the idea of having kids with her.
So now, he’s been left wondering if still not wanting kids – and not changing his mind about it – really makes him a jerk or not.
