After 25 years of marriage, Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos took to Twitter to announce his divorce from wife MacKenzie. 54-year-old Jeff Bezos shared that the two went through a trial separation before making their decision permanent.
Surprisingly enough, Jeff considers their marriage a success, saying in his statement about their personal choice, “If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”

The two met in New York, where Jeff was working as a VP of a hedge fund. MacKenzie and Jeff were engaged just 3 months after their first date, and the couple got married just 6 months after meeting each other. Talk about a whirlwind romance! The two then went on to quit their jobs on Wall Street to move to Seattle.
There, Jeff started what would later be known as Amazon: an online bookstore he ran out of his garage.

Jeff is currently the wealthiest man in the world, and nobody is sure if there is a prenup in place, given he only became a millionaire back in 1997, well after he married MacKenzie. Complicating their split further, they reside in the state of Washington, which is a community property state.
This means that any wealth created during their marriage could very well have to be split 50/50 between them. If that happens, MacKenzie will get $69 billion dollars, leaving her the wealthiest woman in the world.
The two have four children together, ranging in ages from 18 to 13 years old. No matter what happens, MacKenzie is definitely going to end up with a ton of money in the divorce, and we’re sad to see two people married for so long go their separate ways.
