Brittany Keller was headed to work at a hospital on October 24th when she caught sight of a weird animal in Ritter Park, located in Huntington, West Virginia.
She was able to capture the strange, mysterious creature on camera as it moved between a small cluster of deer peacefully grazing right beside it.
Sitting in her car, Brittany zoomed in to try to get a better look, but it’s still not exactly clear what the animal is.
Brittany then showed her video to other people who live in Huntington, and it’s stumping everyone in town (and across America).
Speaking to WSAZ, Brittany recalled, “Whenever I stopped to take a better look, I realized it was something I’ve never seen around here before.”
Brittany then posted her interesting video on Facebook, with many commenting that the animal resembled a lemur, WSAZ reported.
Native to the island of island of Madagascar, lemurs have bodies like monkeys, faces like foxes, and long tails.
Adult male lemurs weigh in at approximately six pounds, and females are normally smaller than that.
They’re docile, social, and are active during the day. It’s illegal to own lemurs in many parts of the United States.
West Virginia’s Code states, “It is unlawful to take, obtain, purchase, possess or maintain in captivity any live wildlife, wild animals, wild birds, game or fur-bearing animals except as provided by this chapter or any rule promulgated thereunder.
So, while there’s speculation that it could be someone’s pet lemur out there frolicking around in the woods, others suspect that it could be a Red Fox with mange.
Mange is a skin condition caused by mites that is contagious. Hair loss, itching, and scabs are some of the symptoms associated with it.
